Terms of engagement

These terms apply to legal services provided by Kestrel & Doyle LLP unless the engagement letter says otherwise. We begin work only after a conflict check has cleared and you have accepted a written estimate. Fees are fixed, hourly or capped, as agreed before the work starts; hourly time is recorded in six-minute units and itemized on every invoice. Court fees, expert fees, recording fees and travel are passed through at cost. Invoices are payable within thirty days. If the scope of a fixed-fee matter grows, we stop and re-quote in writing before continuing. Either side may end the engagement at any time; we invoice the work done and hand over the file. We are insured for professional liability up to $3M per claim. Massachusetts law governs the engagement and the state and federal courts sitting in Suffolk County have jurisdiction.
